This is the last dress of Vintage November and it belongs to that most prolific of vintage collectors – Meredith.

It’s a black white and silver brocade, probably from the sixties. I think this dress would look amazing on someone with the stature of Nicole Kidman.

This month has been so much fun and it has made me appreciate so many of the dresses in my wardrobe that have lain forlorn in a box for years. It has also made me covet some of the gorgeous dresses that belong to my friends, but they will all be going back to their rightful owners next week.

One thing I have noticed is that so many of my clothes were made in Sydney, or Melbourne or at least in Australia. It’s rare these days to find something with a label that comes from this country. And we have to put up with inferior clothes that won’t stand the test of time unless we invest a lot of money into them.

I’m not sure how this will change what I wear every day but I suspect that I will wear more vintage than I have before, and it seems to make economic and environmental sense as well.  It’s given me the confidence to wear some of the things that before I thought were too outrageous and it has encouraged me to think more carefully about accessories to complete an outfit.

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it as much as i have and maybe I’ll do it next year but with some of the other vintage in my wardrobe – although November might not be the best month for those winter coats.

It  was 34 degrees at 10am today so it was a good day to go for a swim. But I couldn’t betray Vintage November and wear a modern pair of swimmers.So I brought out this swimsuit that I bought at a Caloundra op-shop a couple of years ago.

I think this one might be from the sixties – before lycra anyway. I have a couple of pairs of vintage bathers. The other pair are bikinis from the sixties, very bright and paisley. I regret not buying a fantastic pair of speedos in a Canberra op-shop a few years ago. I think about them often and wonder why I didn’t snap them up.

I would prefer these ones without the skirt as the togs underneath are quite flattering. I don’t like the inbuilt bra, it’s uncomfortable and makes that very unnatural shape. It also has buttons on the straps to adjust the length.

It’s the second last day of Vintage November. I can’t believe the month has gone so fast, and I can’t believe I still have many more dresses that I haven’t worn during this month. Not to mention jackets, shirts and skirts that haven’t even been mentioned.

This dress came from Melbourne a couple of years ago. It’s another German sundress made of cotton. I like the unusual pockets and the square neckline.

It’s a fantastic dress to wear on a hot hot day.

When you’re a dedicated op-shopper, you expect to be buying second-hand clothes and it doesn’t bother you. But just occasionally you stumble across that rare thing in a charity shop – the BNWT item. For those of you not used to ebay-speak that’s Brand New With Tags.

I found this dress in an op-shop in Wollongong when we lived in Sydney. It had never been worn and still had the tags on it.

It’s just a simple cotton sundress. The label says Palm Island by Gazal.  There’s nothing much more to say really.

During this month I’ve already bought three more vintage dresses – this one came from La Bella Donna at Morningside.

It’s yet more crimplene but I love the pleated skirt and the circle design in braid. It’s a bit different from anything else I own.

I’m glad I work in air-conditioning or I wouldn’t have been able to wear it during November. It’s a bit warm.

This dress isn’t one I would usually wear – you might have noticed that I tend to go for structured dresses that aren’t overly feminine, but I work with Majella and she brought in one of her own dresses for me to try on – I think it might be from the late seventies or early eighties.

It’s a gorgeous chiffon dress with a full circle skirt. It’s lovely on but you have to be a bit brave with the lace panel in the front. It has a matching jacket that I haven’t shown here.

Although it’s a lovely dress, I was worried about wearing it all day at work – I’ve spilt too many lunches down my front. So that is why there will be a second post today.

You might be thinking this dress is similar colours to the dress from last Sunday. It even has spots like the other dress. But the similarities don’t stop there.

This dress is also by Len Vogue Melbourne, and it has the same buttons as the other dress, just a big bigger. It’s almost like a different version of the same dress.

Today’s dress is made of crimplene rather than cotton. I really love the collar and the shape of the neckline. The double breasted style is cool too. It’s a design worth copying.

I really wish this was my dress, but it belongs to Meredith.

I bought two more vintage dresses today. Rather than just making me appreciate my wardrobe, Vintage November has reignited my passion for these clothes. My project may not end on the last day of this month.

I love this dress! And even better,  it was one of the best bargains ever.

Chris and I were wandering back to our hotel in Paris when I saw one more vintage store that I just had to go into. It wasn’t a flash shop, it didn’t even look like there would be much of interest in there.

When I saw this dress on the rack, I wasn’t that impressed. But I thought I would try it on anyway. It fitted me perfectly and looked amazing.

It’s another crimplene number but I love the colours.

And it only cost me seven euro – that is just twelve Australian dollars.

Beautiful and a bargain – what more do you want?

There was an interesting moment today when I found out that I needed to go to a fish kill for a story in this dress.

It’s my wedding anniversary today so I wore this so we could go out for dinner. I ended up going home to get changed into my Florence dress from a couple of weekends ago – after all I still had to wear vintage, even if it was to a smelly lake full of dead fish.

I bought this dress at Miss Posh Poodle in Paddington a couple of years ago. It’s made of black, silver and gold brocade. The label on the dress is Bibby’s couture.

I’ve always had a thing for one-shouldered dresses – even my wedding dress was like this.

I think this one’s interesting because although it seems to be from the sixties, it can look really eighties. It’s a cool dress, I like it a lot.

Every summer, I seem to develop a new favourite sundress – it usually becomes the dress I wear on Christmas Day. I think this is the 2009 Christmas Dress.

I bought this one in Paris this year. It was cheap as chips and is exactly the style I like.

I love the colours and the collar, I like the fuller skirt and the cute buckle on the belt.

Interestingly other people don’t seem to like it as much as I do, but that’s ok.
